Kansas Appleseed Celebrates Full SNAP Benefits Reaching Kansas Families

KANSAS APPLESEED CELEBRATES FULL SNAP BENEFITS REACHING KANSAS FAMILIES

After weeks of anxiety and uncertainty, full November SNAP benefits have begun going out to Kansas families. This is a step that is both overdue and critically important for both the health of Kansans and the communities we live in. For weeks, we have sounded the alarm that partial payments or delays would wreak havoc on Kansans’ lives. While these benefits are delayed by 7 days due to political games, we are relieved that Kansans will be able to put food on their tables.

SNAP is one of the most effective tools we have to prevent hunger and strengthen local economies. Every $1 spent through SNAP generates $1.50 into Kansas grocery stores, farmers markets, and small businesses, helping communities thrive while ensuring that families have access to healthy, affordable food.

Kansas Appleseed is grateful for the advocates, community partners, and public officials who fought tirelessly to ensure these benefits reached Kansans in full. We’re equally thankful for the thousands of Kansans who refused to stay silent– those who called their legislators, spoke out online, or lent a hand at food banks and pantries to fill the gap. This moment embodies our state motto, Ad Astra per Aspera, or  “to the stars through difficulty” and shows the strength of our shared commitment to protecting programs that help families meet their basic needs. Together, we’re proving that when Kansans come together, we can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Kansas Appleseed will continue our work to make sure families can access SNAP without unnecessary barriers or delays. Together, we will build a future where Kansans have what they need to flourish.
