All Kansans deserve to feel welcome to participate in the democratic process. Participation is lower in certain parts of the state, including Southwest and Southeast Kansas, and among people who have experienced food insecurity, incarceration, and other challenges. Too often, immigrants and people of color are not afforded the same opportunities as others. In 2019, we’re working with Kansans across the state to:
- Interrogate injustice and stand in solidarity with those with marginalized identities
- Increase voter engagement
- Organize Kansas residents and communities – particularly in "hard-to-count" Southwest Kansas – for the 2020 census
- Encourage Kansans to identify issues in their own communities they would like to see changed and organize around these issues
