YOU’RE INVITED: Join Kansas Appleseed’s Statewide School Nutrition Coalition!

March 20, 2025

My name is Jessica Kejr, and I am thrilled that I’ve joined the Kansas Appleseed team as Nutrition Access Specialist! While Kansas Appleseed has long advocated for equitable food access across the state, we are now positioned to go deeper on specific strategies with schools and community partners across the state.

That’s why I’m excited to announce Kansas Appleseed will be launching At the Lunch Table: a Statewide School Nutrition Coalition on Tuesday, May 13 at 3:00 p.m. This statewide coalition aims to convene champions and advocates working on efforts to increase food security among students through school nutrition programs and promising practices. Key priorities will be:

  • To identify and address barriers to food access
  • Educate and inform on program opportunities
  • Highlight policy priorities and share promising practices

We are better when we work collaboratively, and we hope to bring many voices and perspectives as we meet At the Lunch Table. This is open for any and all who may be interested in convening, learning, and sharing about school nutrition programs in Kansas. This may include school district staff, food and nutrition staff, school board members, teachers, administrators, community partners, state agencies, PTAs, and other stakeholders. A special effort will be made to include the voices and regular participation of students and parents/caregivers.

Meetings will be held virtually. Click here to register and receive a Zoom link for the initial meeting.

Thank you for your ongoing support and action to end hunger in communities across Kansas. If you have any questions, ideas or feedback, don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope you will join us At the Lunch Table!
