TOPEKA, KS 𑁋 Unofficial results show that Kansans have voted to preserve Kansas’ merit-based judicial selection system. Kansas Appleseed Center for Law and Justice released the following statement in response to the election results:
Almost 70 years after the Triple Play Scandal rocked our state’s highest court, Kansans from every corner of the state have once again said no to a system that opens the door to partisan politics, corruption, and backdoor deals.
“Today’s outcome is a reminder that every voice matters, and we’re thankful to every volunteer and every Kansan who participated in this process to protect our Constitution,” said Logan Stenseng, Civic Engagement Manager for Kansas Appleseed. “Our democracy is strongest when citizens are informed and involved. We encourage everyone to remain civically engaged so that our government best reflects the values and priorities of the people it serves. Ad Astra Per Aspera!”
A year ago today, Kansas Appleseed began our work of going community by community, equipping voters with the knowledge they needed to make an informed decision. This victory belongs to all Kansans who stood up to protect our state’s highest court, and we are grateful to every voter who showed up, volunteered, and made their voice heard through the ballot box.
