HB 2402: Working Together to Feed Kansas Kids
Kansas Appleseed and American Heart Association came together to host a conversation around school meals and how putting people over partisanship created success for HB 2402. Haley Kottler, Kansas Appleseed’s Senior Campaign Director, joined Senator Adam Thomas, Representative Heather Meyer and Representative Angela Stiens to talk about why school meals are critical for Kansas families and how we can continue to work together in the future.
From Kansas to Capitol Hill: Advocating for Solutions
Senior Campaign Director Haley Kottler recently traveled to Washington, D.C., for the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference hosted by Food Research & Action Center (FRAC). During the conference, she participated in several panels focused on Child Nutrition Programs and SNAP. Haley also took part in a briefing on national food insecurity at the U.S. Capitol, where she discussed the implications of HR1 for Kansas families. In addition, she met with Congressman Tracey Mann and staff representatives from the offices of Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall.
BLOG: What Is Impact Litigation?
Kansas Appleseed has used this tool several times over the last eight years, but there are many more impact-litigation cases out there than you might realize.
In this month’s blog, Nicki Rose (Litigation Director) outlines what impact litigation is and how it has been used to bring about positive change in many instances, notably in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka.
